All itineraries feature two stops: One in Istanbul and one in Asia, mostly Kuala Lumpur. All flights from/to Istanbul will be operated by Turkish Airlines. An Airbus A320 family aircraft hosts you from Dublin to Istanbul, with the usual 3-3 seating pattern in economy. Even on those flights, you can enjoy personal entertainment screens. The second flight takes you from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur on a Boeing 777-300ER or Airbus A350-900. Thankfully, Turkish Airlines still uses a 3-3-3 seating alignment on these planes.
The six-hour-flights between Kuala Lumpur and Australia are operated by Malaysian Airways on their Boeing 737 MAX with a 3-3 configuration, or a JetStar Airbus A320 family plane. Some itineraries have a stop in Bangkok or Singapore instead of Kuala Lumpur.
Most Europeans need a visa to enter Australia. You can apply for the visa online. It’s best to apply at least 1 month before travelling. The visa is free.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, these tickets are available without a travel or sales period. A minimum stay of six days is necessary to get the lowest fare. Departures are available from April through September 2026, with block outs during the Summer holidays.
Google Flights helps you find additional flight dates and other origins. While you may find flights on Turkish Airlines’ website, tickets are also sold by online travel agencies. Some tickets are cheaper when buying them from OTAs than the prices displayed by Google Flights, but Turkish Airlines offers the cheapest tickets in most cases.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Miles & Points
Turkish Airlines flight segments are issued in booking class U. A trip from Dublin to Kuala Lumpur earns the following miles & points:
- 3,518 Miles on Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Customize Calculation
The segments operated by Malaysian do not increase your earnings by any relevant number.
